Health care reform requires all Americans to have medical coverage, whether you get coverage through your employer or decide to go to the insurance marketplace.

At Silverado, our plans are considered affordable and provide minimum value as defined by health care reform. As a result, you are not eligible to receive a subsidy if you decide to waive your Silverado medical coverage and enroll in a plan on the health insurance marketplace.

The Affordable Care Act generally requires that individuals obtain health care coverage during the year or pay a shared responsibility payment known as the individual mandate penalty. The Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate was modified by the 2017 tax revision, eliminating the penalty beginning in 2019.
